The next morning was bright and sunny as the family got ready to go to town.
"Load up the wagon. We need to go," Mr. Brown called out to his family.
"Hop in Philip," Mary smiled to Philip.
"Everybody climb in!" Mrs. Brown urged the children, from the other side of the wagon. Soon they all were loaded up.
"Giddy up!" Mr. Brown said to the horse and off they went rolling quickly along until they reached town. The family got out and the boys unloaded the wagon.
"Hey Jim, I'm going to Miss French's store. I'm taking Joy , Mary and William with me," Mrs. Susan Brown called.
"Okay,” Mr. Jim Brown replied.
As Philip was looking around, he saw his friend John and a few other boys playing.
"Hey Ma, can I go play with John and the other boys ?" Philip asked.
"Sure, " was the reply.
“Hey John!” Philip greeted his friend. “Can I play with you boys?"
"You bet!” John called.
A little later....
Philip heard some footsteps and looked up from his game. He saw a bunch of men lined up and marching. "John, do you see those men coming this way?”
"Yes, I do, “ John answered, a little worried.
"I think they want something,” Philip said, with a stern look on his face.
The men walked closer until they were right beside them. The man in the front looked like the captain of the rest of the men, who looked like they were his soldiers. All the men looked at Philip only.
