I just wanted to quickly remind y'all that this weekend is the end date of the contest. If you plan on submitting a story for the contest, please make sure you get it in before the contest ends at midnight August 31st!
This is our first writing challenge. This type of challenge is different from the normal challenges we've been having. :) It's more of a writing exercise. Hope you enjoy it!
When other people travel, you stay home... in their home. As a professional house sitter, you get to experience the luxury of other people's lives while getting paid to take care of their plants, pets and goods. What would your ideal house sitting house be like and why? Go into great detail about every room of the "borrowed" house. The length can be as long as you want!
Send your story, essay or whatever you end up doing to me at email@example.com
NOTE: I have also added some more awesome (and beautiful!) pictures to the Writer's Column. You're gonna love them!
Since Paisley wasn't able to do today, I'm posting my story instead. Plus, I missed posting my story on my day. Sorry about that!
Are you excited for this next installment of Men for Madagascar? Since it's been awhile, why don't you go through and read this story from the beginning! Let me know what you think of it so far! Is worth continuing? I do have the next part written (part six) so if someone misses their posting, I'll post the next part for y'all to enjoy!
Over on my author’s page you’ll find the first installment of a book-sized story called “The Twin Arrows”. It isn’t as finished as my other stories have been because, well, consider yourself a test reader! That’s right! I intend to publish this story as a book someday. You’ll get to read six parts out of nine that have been edited for grammar and continuity; but, as this is one of the early drafts, I’m still quite open to comments and suggestions. You will have a month to give me your opinion (and hopefully pine away!) before the next part comes out. As you read, keep in mind these few questions…
Do you like the story? Are the characters realistic? Can you picture the setting well?
Additionally, at the end of each part, there will be questions particular to that installment. I hope you enjoy it, and I’m looking forward to your help in making this story one of my best! Every day is a gift, Kate
**Note: This is a really noble story and sometimes when you have really noble acts it can be too much for people who are younger. I'm suggesting that kids 12 and under should not read this story. However, I will leave it up to the parents or older siblings whether or not they should read this story.**
To all the authors: From now on I will be making blog post title things like the one above instead of adding a picture. You are still welcome to give me pictures (or picture ideas) to go with your story on your own page! :) Let me know if you have any questions on this.
Since many of you didn't get a chance to enter into the contest, I'm doing another one! With a much easier theme! (Hopefully!) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contest Theme: Emotion. Write a story using emotion. Simple, right? I hope! What does it feel like to miss a friend? What do feel when it's your birthday? What does it feel like when you have completed a huge project that has effected a lot of people in a good way? What does it feel like to speak in front of a very large group? Express emotion in your story! Do your best not to go into the characters head and explain what they feel. Practice showing emotion, not telling it. Word limit: None. Just be reasonable. We don't need a whole book on Noble Novels yet! :) Deadline: August 31st, 2015 (The date is set and will not be moved!) Ages: All ages Rules: -Please follow the guidelines for writing!
