Anna: Which do you prefer to write stories with: pen, pencil, or computer?
Pearl: Pen or computer!
Faith: Pen or Computer. I've never really written anything very serious before though....so maybe that will change. ?
Kate: Pencil or computer. Pens are just too messy for my liking. : )
Holly: Pencil or computer for me! If I am having a hard time typing out the story I'll switch to a pencil. There is something about having a pencil in your hand while you are writing! I have a much better connection with the story when I use a pencil!
Anna: Whose books have most inspired you to write? Which titles?
Pearl: I really enjoyed reading "The Chronicles of Narnia" (C.S. Lewis, I like "The Last Battle" the best!) , "Little Pilgrim's Progress" (Helen L. Taylor), "Spider Web for Two, a Melendy Maze" (Elizabeth Enright), "The Pushcart War" (Jean Merrill), and a few others!
Faith: I don't really know. Any book I read I pull ideas from, (maybe someday I'll come up with my own ideas.) but they don't make me want to write.
Kate: Wow, a lot of them... (I wouldn't necessarily suggest these all for reading)
The Shield Ring by Rosemary Sutcliff
The Viking Quest Series by Lois Walfrid Johnson
Evangelists in Chains by Elizabeth Wagler
Most everything by Elizabeth Prentiss, Elizabeth Enright, or Rebekah A. Morris
And of course, Structuring Your Novel by K.M. Weiland!!!
Holly: Tough question! I would probably say:
The School Story by Andrew Clements
From the Dark to the Dawn by Alicia Willis
The Boy Colonel by John. J. Horn
The Baker Family Adventures by C.R. Hedgecock
Little Women by Lousia May Alcott
and probably a dozen others!!!
Anna: What time period and setting interest you the most?
Pearl: I like the vintage time period, and probably medieval.
Faith: I prefer no time setting. Then I am free to make my own story, I don't have to match any history or anything. I like mysterious, almost scary settings, that keep you on the edge of your seat.
Kate: Medieval in the forest : )
Holly: Time period? Not really sure! I guess whatever book I last read that interested me the most! Not sure about settings either.
Anna: Who are two of your all-time favorite characters (both male and female) from books you've read? Why?
Pearl: I'm not quite sure who my favorite characters are. For boys probably Rush from the Melendy books by Elizabeth Enright, and Tirian from the "The Last Battle" by C. S. Lewis.
For girls I like Phoebe from "Eight Cousins" by Louisa May Alcott, and Lucy from "The Chronicles of Narnia" by C.S. Lewis. I like other characters too. :)
Faith: Katy from Stepping Heavenward, and people from the many biographies I've read.
Kate: Archie from Rose in Bloom or Devin from The Invisible Friend. They are just so nice, godly, and good, quiet leaders. For girls... maybe Katherine from Stepping Heavenward? : ) Probably because I can relate to her struggles. : )
Holly: Oh dear! This could get long! Goodness! That's a tough question!
Philip from The Dark to the Dawn because of his character and strong faith in God.
I have a few favorite female characters. But I would say I have always loved Jo from Little Women. Why? She longs for adventure and purpose in life and writes! However, there are many other female characters I love that are probably more godly than Jo! :)
Whoa! That was a lot! Thanks to Anna for such fun questions! :)
